Steffie Gerritsen studied Nursing at Hogeschool Arnhem and Nijmegen between 2006 and 2010. During her nursing training she worked at Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen and obtained her diploma in 2010. Between 2010 and 2013 Steffie worked as a nurse at the Department of Orthopedics and Oncology at Radboud University Medical Center. Subsequently, between 2013 and 2017, Steffie worked at in primary healthcare, where she was involved in the policy and recording of care processes. Since 2017 Steffie has been working as a specialized nurse at the Anorectal Physiology Laboratory, under supervision of Dr. Broens.
The measurements and analyses performed by Steffie are used for diagnosing patients and for the on-going clinical studies carried out at the Anorectal Physiology Laboratory. The results of the measurements are used to gain insight into the pathophysiology of anorectal dysfunctions. For research of the anorectal physiology and mechanisms that regulate fecal continence and defecation processes, Steffie also performs measurements in healthy subjects.
